He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E Ackerman and Frances Cumbee Ackerman; and his siblings, Robert E Ackerman, Howard A Ackerman, Jane Johnson and Lorine O'Brien.

He is survived by: his sister Edna Barrineau; his sibling's children, Ted Barrineau (Mary), Van Barrineau (Heather), Ned Barrineau, Janton Barrineau (Sheila), Geneil Martin (John) and Sharon Thomas (Tommy); his cousins, Robert Johnson and Mack Johnson (Karin); and his close friends, Lydia Fipps (Karl) and Amanda Chojnacki (Mark).
