BJ Smith wrote a sympathy message

“May God bless and comfort the the family. Mr. Mac was a "larger than life" person who made quite an impression on a young 7 year old starting his first game at Brentwood Baseball Field. I was always in awe of Mr. Mac. I continued to see him from time-to-time as I grew up and would always enjoy talking with him. I coached for 20 plus years in the city and always attributed my passion for baseball to Mr Mac. Without question, Mr. Mac touched many lives and will be remembered fondly.”
