It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George William Ellington of North Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on July 23, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Ellington and Anna Williams Ellington; his siblings, Eleanor Barnes, Ethel Benson, Richardean Foster, Helen Smith, Margaret Davis, Charles Ellington, Melvin Ellington, Thomas Ellington and Johnny Ellington; and his mother-in-law Ruth Ladson.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Ladson Ellington; his children, Rhonda Ellington Jackson, George W. Ellington, Jr., Yvonne Ellington-Basley and Donna Ellington Capers; his grandchildren, VaRhondalette, Shane, Latosha, Hyunah, Juwan, Kiara and Reginald, Jr.; his son Sweetwine; his brother Herman Ellington; and his siblings-in-law, Terry Whirl, Linda Terry, Joann Fludd, Paul Ladson and James Ladson. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
