It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Simmons (North Charleston, South Carolina), who passed away on June 19, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Lou Bertha Simmons; his daughter Cynthia Simmons; his parents, Nancy Simmons and James Simmons; and his siblings, George Simmons, Viola Davis and Vernice Jenkins.
He is survived by: his sons, James O. Simmons and Demetrius O. Simmons; his daughter-in-law Gidget Y. Simmons; his grandchildren, Shelton Simmons, James D. Simmons, IV, Donovan X. Simmons and Caitlin I. Simmons; his great grandchild Jacob Simmons; his siblings, Nancy LaGrae of New York and Carl Simmons of McClellanville, SC; his nieces, Dr. Tenora J. Simonez and Joyce Mullen; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Amber Jenkins, Gabrielle Mullen and Aaliyah Peay. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
