He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Brown; and his brothers, Rudolph Chapman and Perry Dixon. He is survived by: his wife Delores Halim; his children, Akbar Halim, Kalimah Hines, Kabir Halim, Jr., Kareem Halim and Oscar Douglas (Stacy); his grandchildren, JaQuan, KQuawi (Hines), Justice and Anastasia; his stepgranddaughter Jordan Douglas; his mother Ella Brown; his siblings, Darryl Brown and Joella "Button" Brown; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Franks (Curtis) and Sandra Lawton (James). He is also survived by relatives and friends.
