She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence V. Emerson and Myrtle Olsen Emerson; her sons, Mark Melling and Brian Melling; and her siblings, Beverly Potocnik, Shirley Petrack, John Emerson, Lawrence Emerson, Jr. and Friends.

She is survived by: her husband Merle E. Melling; her children, Julie Cumbee (Jimmy), Kelley Smith (Trevor), Kevin Melling (Martha) and Gregory Melling (Espie); her sister Betty Lou Kirkpatrick; and her daughter-in-law Pam Melling. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
