It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jewell Antonia Smith of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who passed away on September 29, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, O'dell Rodgers and Frances Rodgers. She is survived by: her spouse Dr. Laurie Nicholas Smith; her children, Joseph Benjamin Brogdon III, Frances Brogdon Locklier (Scott), Shawn Smith, Edward Smith (Amy), Lara Ann Whitehead (Ryan) and Casey Layman (Jason); her brother Larry Rodgers (Wanda); her grandchildren, Dalton Brogdon (Sara), Marshall Anderson, Cali Brogdon, Hayden Brogdon, Ava Grace Whitehead, Easton Layman, Tanner Layman, Brody Layman, Grainger Smith and Jake Smith; her pet Oakley; and her grandson Ben Anderson (Joseph Benjamin Brogdon, Jr.).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, MUSC Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice.
