With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Arthur Earl Ayer Jr. of Olar, South Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Willingham Ayer; his father Arthur Earl Ayer, Sr.; his son Robert Earl Ayer; his brother Gregory Eugene Altman; and his brother-in-law Ernest Benton.
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph "Joey" Earl Ayer (Lois) of Olar and Jeffrey Ryan Ayer of Olar; his grandsons, Aaron Logan Ayer (Rebekah) and Garrett Thomas Ayer; his great grandchild Gunner Lygrand Ayer; his sisters, Mary Ayer Benton of Brunson and Janet Altman Ulmer (Randy) of Lodge; and his sisters-in-law, Rebecca Miller (Daniel), Linda Hair (Tony) and Yvonne Taylor (Paul). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory, Ehrhardt-Bamberg Chapel (2515 Low Country Hwy, Ehrhardt, SC 29081). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ayer Family Cemetery on the grounds of the River's Bridge State Park.
