He was predeceased by : his parents, Joe Leonard Curles and Selicia Fogle Curles. He is survived by : his son Trae Dawson; and his siblings, Steven Curles, Donald Curles, Jimmy Curles, Steven Thompson, Jo Ann Jackson and Shana Jackson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Dukes Harley Funeral Home (3379 Columbia Rd NE, Orangeburg, SC 29118).
