He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelly Chavis and Geneva Ball Chavis. He is survived by: his siblings, Terry, Tony, Mary Pearl, Elaine, Faye Fogle (Danny), Pam Godfrey (Johnny), Nancy Ethridge, Virgil, Roseanne, Robert, Elizabeth, Howard and Ronald; his wife Betty Chavis; his children, Amy Michelle Chavis and James Wesley Chavis; his grandchildren, Kaila Tarrant (Jeremy) of Kira, KJ and Kaiden; his great grandchild Penelope; his nephew Bubba Charles Baughman (Joni); his close friends, Jim Bozzard and Will Carter; and his pet Pipi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. (1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC 29115). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
