He was predeceased by: his parents, John "J. T." T. Spires, Sr. and Junell Williamson Holman; and his siblings, Arthur Spires, Mae Spires and Betty McCollum.
He is survived by: his wife Linda B. Spires; his children, Teresa Beason (Roger) and Nick Lee (Angie); his stepchildren, Chris Rutland and Ricky Rutland; his brothers, Leroy Spires (Shirley), Carl Spires and Palmer McAlhany (Terry); his aunt Nancy; and his nephew Robert McCollum. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
