With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Catherine Cumbie Ward of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 7, 2026 at the age of 86. Though Catherine may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Catherine touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her spouse Gene Ward; and her parents, George Hanford Cumbie and Bernice Poston Cumbie. She is survived by: her children, Steven (Dee), Marsha and Marie; and her sisters, Inez and Freda. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
