He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Dean Gaskill and Adeline Davis Gaskill; his wife Shirley Edwards Gaskill; and his granddaughter Barbara Edwards Cloetingh. He is survived by: his son Scott Christopher Gaskill; his daughter-in-law Isabel of Pawleys Island; his grandchildren, Claire, Bradford, Gwynne Edwards Tracy, Ted Edwards, Jr., Joan Edwards Cloetingh and Neil Edwards; his former wife Diane Gaskill; and his son Mark Gaskill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable contributions to the American Cancer Society.
