He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred DeRuiter and Sadie DeRuiter (Pruiksma); his siblings, Fred DeRuiter and Phyllis Schuurman; and his former wife Yvonne DeRuiter.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Breznicky DeRuiter of Pawleys Island; his children, Scott DeRuiter (Lorelei) of Erie, Colorado, Melissa Kaiser of Las Vegas, Nevada and Cynthia Montouro (Mattia) of Longwood, Florida; his stepdaughter Kristy Masseth (Chris) of Wake Forest; his grandchildren, Chase, Braelyn, Ashley, Maddie, Landon, Makayla, Evan, Luke, Kinsley, Noah, Brayden and Hadley; and his mother-in-law Mel Watkins of Pawleys Island.
