With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Brenda Shirey of Pelion, South Carolina, born in Central City, Kentucky, who passed away on September 1, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Brenda farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Brenda is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gladys Marie and Rod Roland Higgs; and her siblings, Ruby Vincent, June Crapps, Barbara Slusher, Mildred Moore and Michael Earl Phillips.
She is survived by: her brothers, Michael Wayne Higgs and Edward Booth-Higgs (Ralph Booth Higgs); and her daughters, Phoebe Smith (Rick), Abby Miller, Beverly Magdaleno (Jose) and Gladys Moore. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild along with countless nieces, nephews and many loved ones and friends.
