He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar McCombs and Louise Durham McCombs; and his sister Joan McKee. He is survived by: his spouse Jean McCombs; and his children, Wanda Evans (Neal), Renee McCombs, Angela Stacy (Toby) and Dean McCombs, III (Deanne). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
