He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover M. Mathis Sr. and Bernice Dodgens Mathis; his wife Annie R. Mathis; and his son Daniel. He is survived by: his children, Susan Bright, Michael Mathis and Timothy Mathis; and his siblings, James William Mathis and Patricia Sutherland. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
