He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyce Landrum Clayton and Bernice Nix Clayton. He is survived by: his children, Kay Bagwell, David Clayton (Donna), Danny Clayton (Michelle) and Kevin Clayton (Shannon); his grandchildren, Corey Brezeale (Tasha), Dana Vissage (Jeff), Chris Bagwell (Rachel), Dave Bagwell, Tonya Feno (Randall), Joseph Clayton, Jacob Clayton, Sean Clayton, Aaron Clayton, Holly Clayton, Casey Clayton, Elizabeth Whiten (Caleb), Taylor Combs and Jordan Combs; his brother Charlie Clayton; and his wife Jennie "Freddie" Clayton. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Dillard Memorial Funeral Home (2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park (2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671).
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greenville, South Carolina.
