He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Columbus and Lucy Viola Adams (Anderson); his sons, Joey Adams and Allen Adams; and his brothers, Coburn Adams, Lewis Cothran Adams (Frances), Daniel Brooks Adams and Shirley Adams.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Finley Adams; his daughters, Amanda Adams of Anderson, SC and Andrea Griffin (Trey) of Pickens, SC; his grandchildren, Will Griffin of Seneca, SC, Adam Joe Griffin (Carson) of Four Oaks, NC and Gracie Griffin of Pickens, SC.; and his sister Kathy Sue.
