He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Moses "Mode" Hayes, Sr. and Elizabeth "Bessie" Hayes; his wife Edna Mae Willis Hayes; and his siblings, William Elbert Hayes (Tim) of Pickens, Inez Hayes Hughes of Pickens, Leander Hayes Dodgens of Pickens and Daniel Moses Hayes, Jr. (D. M.) of Pickens.
He is survived by: his daughters, Victoria Lynn Hayes Ray of Arvada and Elizabeth Ann Hayes of Pickens, SC; his grandchildren, Jordan William Ray (Cassandra) of Arvada and Stewart Mackenzie Ray of Missoula, Montana; and his great grandchildren, Cameron William Ray and Sophia Caroline Ray of Arvada, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
