He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E. Spalding Sr. and Florence Haslett Spalding; his son Robert Emmet Spalding III; his brother Don Spalding; and his grandson Joshua Hardin.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Skelton Spalding; his daughters, Deanna Spalding Hardin, Stephanie Spalding and Marie Spalding Richards (Jason); his grandchildren, Darin Hardin, Max Richards and Sarah Richards; his great grandchild Gunner Hardin; and his brothers, Jack Spalding (Karen) and Bill Spalding (Laura).
