He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Eugene McKinney and Ollie Mae Day McKinney; and his siblings, Glen Eugene McKinney, Harold Edward McKinney, Kenneth Ray McKinney and Evelyn Louise Duncan.

He is survived by: his wife Mildred Owen McKinney; his children, Sherry Cantrell (Tim) of Pickens, Linda Sentell (Scott) of Pickens and David McKinney (Kerri) of Easley; his grandchildren, Amber Crocker, Stepanie Owen, Austin Cantrell, Christopher Sentell, Landan McKinney and Sadie McKinney; his great grandchildren, River Crocker, Abbott Owen, Clyde Owen and Aspen Sentell; and his siblings, William Curtis "Curt" McKinney and Barbara Ann Duncan. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
