He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Dodgens and Lucille Cantrell Dodgens; his wife Rita Holder Dodgens; and his siblings, Avenell, Billy, Clyde, Douglas and Maxwell.

He is survived by: his daughters, Patti Dodgens Thompson (Andy Dorsey) and Jennifer James; his grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan and Landyn; his great grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kaysleigh; and his sister Laura Hinds.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 12:45 PM to 2:45 PM at the Dillard Funerals and Cremation (2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 4:15 PM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park (2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671).
