He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Henry and Violet Edith Gilstrap; and his sister Katie Gilstrap. He is survived by: his siblings, Pete Gilstrap, Mack Gilstrap, Jack Gilstrap (Arlene), Shirley Morgan (Mike), Judy Yates Parris (Harold), Edith Owens (James), David Gilstrap and Martha Tucker (Scott). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Grove Baptist Church.
