He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Ruth Gilstrap and Grover Mathis Jr.; his brother Danny Mathis; and his brother-in-law Will Bright. He is survived by: his children, Timothy Mathis (Leanna Owen), Leah Mathis and Will Mathis; his grandchildren, Logan Mathis, Mia Mathis, Teagan Owen and Addison Owen; his siblings, Mike Mathis and Susan Bright; and his uncle Larry Gilstrap. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Dillard Funerals and Cremation (2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
