He was predeceased by: his wife Annie Ruth Cox; his father George Thomas Cox; his sons, John "J. W." Cox and Larry Cox; his grandchildren, Dakota Cox and Candice MacMillan; and his sisters, Georgia Goodwin, Estella Dodson and Betty Youngblood.
He is survived by: his children, George Cox of Pickens, Steve Cox of Pickens and Lisa Gilstrap of Pickens; and his daughter-in-law Mary Cox. He is also survived by 14 loving grandchildren; 40 precious great-grandchildren; 8 most precious and loving great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mountain View Funerals and Cremations - Pickens Chapel (105 Florence St, Pickens, SC 29671). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park (2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671).
