He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Berry and Annie Cooper Childress; his wife Jessie Faye Childress; and his sons, Tommy Ray Childress and John Allen Childress.
He is survived by: his son Daniel Berry Childress (Teresa); and his grandchildren, Michael Childress (Julia), Eric Childress (Annie), Teri Childress, Dwight Childress (Brittany), Dawn Childress and Erica Mason (Jesse). He is also survived by 16 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
