Richard Bannister Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Bannister of Prosperity, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 7, 2026 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee Bannister, Sr. and Frankie Limbaugh Bannister; his former wife Janice "Jan" Bannister; his daughters, Jamie Ward and Ginger Bradwell; his grandsons, Ben Thomas and Larry Prince; and his siblings, Howard Bannister, Adolph Bannister, Bobby Bannister and Patsy Newman.

He is survived by: his wife Tessie Buhawe Bannister; his children, Jimmy Bannister (Cheri) of Tuttle, OK, Debbie Thomas (Gil) of Newberry and Millie Laster of Columbia; his brother Steve Bannister (Kathy) of Blythewood; his grandchildren, Gilbert Thomas II (Lacey) of Lafayette, LA, Kristen Neal (Mitch) of Anderson, Karen Ouzts (Christian) of Saluda, Ashley Hamilton (Julian) of Prosperity, Charlie Thomas (Lauren) of Amhurst, VA, Kevin Laster, Caroline Laster, Timmy Prince (Ely), David Bradwell (Lindsey), Alyson Craig (Steve) and Leigha Marion (Tyler); his pets, BJ, Danny, Gucci, Chase, Prosper and Poppy Kay; and his great great grandchild Ouzts. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
