He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Charles and Addie Maxine Long Benckert; his wife Jane Elizabeth Benckert; and his sister-in-law Jeanette Benckert. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Cumbee (James, Jr.) and Andrew Benckert (Débora); his grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Holley Cumbee, James Claude Cumbee, III, Esmée Benckert, Noemi Benckert and Zoé Witzkewitz; and his brothers, Charles Benckert (Lynne) and James Benckert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (164 Mt Pleasant Rd, Ridge Spring, SC 29129). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 164 Mt. Pleasant Road, Ridge Spring, SC 29129.
