He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph "Rudy" Siegling and Elizabeth "Betty" Siegling; and his stepdaughter Ashley Addison. He is survived by: his wife Karen H. Siegling; his stepson Paul Seward; his son-in-law Allen Addison; his grandchildren, Olivia, Jack, Harmony, Daytona and Reese; his sister Betsy Shaw (John); Debbie. He is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Ridgeway SC or the South Carolina Railroad Museum in Winnsboro, South Carolina, in honor of Carter's lifelong commitment to preserving South Carolina's.
