He was predeceased by: his parents, Elma Coskrey Plowden and Robert Billups Plowden; and his sisters-in-law, Nelle Kirby Player and Lillian Kirby Arrants. He is survived by: his wife Jean Kirby Plowden; his children, Rev. Irvin V. Plowden, Jr., Daniel Derrick Plowden (Kelly Nivens) of Rock Hill and Amy Louise Plowden McDaniel (Mac); his brother Dr. James F. Plowden (Clark) of Greensboro, NC; his siblings-in-law, Harriet Cunningham Plowden and Davis H. Kirby; and his granddaughters, Nicole Kirby Cataland and Morgan Brittany Cataland.
