He was predeceased by: his mother Virgie Hadis Hefner Chappell; and his grandparents, John Henry Chappell, Eva Porter Chappell, James Dallas Hefner and Dora Aldridge Hefner of Arizona.
He is survived by: his father Curwood Powell Chappell; his wife Athena Alice Chappell; his adoptive daughter Zoe Harmon Chappell; and his siblings, Betty Ann Helms, Rev. James Powell "Jimmy" Chappell (Faye) of Ft. Lawn and Harvey Glenn Chappell (Vanesa) of Rock Hill.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel (2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
