She was predeceased by: her parent Docia Barrett; her husband Dalton Brown; her son Ray J. Carter; her grandson Ray J. Carter, III; and her brothers, Olin Barrett, David Barrett and Billy Wayne Barrett.
She is survived by: her daughter Vicky Carter (Shirley Carter) of Rock Hill; her grandchildren, Daniel James Corley, Kimberly Carter Hildreth and Christen Carter Sifontes; and her caregivers, Kathleen Clifton, Susan Atkinson and Tammy Hudson. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
