He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Rainwater and Dorothy Fletcher Rainwater; his son Travis Rainwater; and his brothers, Sonny Thornton and Junior Thornton.

He is survived by: his daughters, Reon Satterfield Garland (Dwayne) of Moore and Teresa Satterfield Crisp (Rick) of Boiling Springs; his sister Carolyn Willard of Woodruff; his grandchildren, Lauren Garland Cisney (Brandon), Megan Garland, Katie Looney, Kassie Sellers (Houston) and Jacob Looney (Hannah); and his great grandchildren, Addy Cisney, Carter Garland, Wyatt Sellers, Harrison Cisney and Iradessa Crisp.
