He was predeceased by : his parents, Samuel Owens and Lillian Owens; and his siblings, Joe Owens, William Owens and Frances Owens.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Owens; his children, Samuel "Chip" Owens, Scott Owens, Todd Owens and Pam Owens; and his stepsons, Jimmy Thomas (Beverly) and Jeff Thomas (Theresa). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
