He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Edward Payne and Reva Pearl Johnson Payne; and his siblings, Donald Edward Payne, Leo Richard Payne, James LeRoy Payne and Judy Esther Payne.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Gayle Zimmerman Payne; his sister Hilda Pearl Payne Fuss of Hedgesville; his children, Freddie "Scott" Payne (Allison) of Pauline and Susan Payne Ott (Craig) of Nashville, Tennessee.; his grandchildren, Nicholas Emery Krull of Jacksonville, Austin Eli Payne (Alice) of Clermont, Emily Nicole Krull of Simpsonville, Andrew Bailey Krull of Spartanburg and William Martin Stigall (Lissa) of Christiansburg, Virginia.; and his great grandchildren, Bowman, Calla and Van Payne of Clermont, Florida.. He is also survived by his family, friends.
