He was predeceased by: his parents, Furman E. Smith and Ruth Corneluis Smith; and his sister Connie Carson. He is survived by: his children, Edward G. Smith (Faye) and Angie Mizell (Kent); his grandchildren, Brittany Harrell (Trey), Heather Jeffers (Cory), Leslie Hammond (Mark) and Nicole Garvin; his great grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Alexis, Jackson and Maeve; his sister Lois Whitaker (Chuck); and his sibling's children, Kitty and Thomas Mizell.
