He was predeceased by : his parents, Marion Douglas Roberts and Anges Elizabeth Sanders Roberts; and his siblings, Marion Roberts, Jr., Harold Roberts, Lee Roberts, Dick Roberts and Norma Roberts.

He is survived by : his wife Lois Mae Martin Roberts of Raleigh, NC; and his sons, James Wallace "Jimmy" Roberts, Jr. of Saluda, Timothy Douglas "Tim" Roberts (Dawn Edmondson Roberts) of Raleigh, NC and David Martin "Dave" Roberts (Lorraine Williams Roberts) of Ocala, FL. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
