He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Reedy Wheeler and Estelle Eugenia Tessier Wheeler of Saluda, SC.; his son Barney Joe Wheeler (Esquire); his siblings, Carl Darnell Wheeler, Pearle Wheeler Griffith and Patricia Jean Wheeler; and his brother-in-law Willliam Lowery Griffith, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Jane Burrows Wheeler of Mt Pleasant, SC; his daughter Melissa Wheeler Thomas (Lisa); his grandchildren, Tessa Ann Shelburne (Thomas) of Greenville, SC and Blair Justin Wheeler (Alexandra) of Wilmington, NC; his daughter-in-law Terri Eaddy Wheeler of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his great grandchildren, Barrett John Wheeler, Wesley Parker Wheeler, Charles Alexander Wheeler of Wilmington and Millie June Shelburne of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Carolina Funeral Home Chapel (215 E Hwy 378 Byp, Scranton, SC 29591). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
