She was predeceased by: her brother Elbert Lamar "Tres" Bailes, III; her father Elbert "Lamar" Bailes, Jr. (Rosemary Bailes); and her father-in-law Frank Earl Garland. She is survived by: her husband Tony Earl Garland of Seneca, SC.; her mother Rosemary Fort Bailes; her sons, Austin Garland (Rainey Patterson) and Walt Garland (Rayelle Asche); her grandchildren, EsméJade, Linley, Garrick, Solrhea and Charles; her mother-in-law Joanne Garland; her sister-in-law Gail Garland Cox (Ralph); and her nephews, Forrest Cox (Bailey) and Connor Cox.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
