He is survived by : his children, Lewis Mitchell, Jesse Randall Patterson, Michael W. Dean, John W. Dean, Loretta Patterson Ezell, Darlene Zinke and Omega Brown; and his siblings, Nancy Alexander, Rosalie Little and George Patterson. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
