He was predeceased by: his parents, William Brune and Anna Fritz Brune; and his brother-in-law John Spring. He is survived by: his wife Linda Boos Brune; his children, Maribeth Kowalski (Paul) and Doug Brune (Jenny); his grandchildren, Ryan Kowalski, Anne Kowalski, Eva Brune and Emily Brune; and his sisters, JoAnne Spring and Midge Culos (John). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
