He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pink Thackston and Elizabeth Jane Leopard Thackston; and his siblings, Lawrence Thackston, Avery Thackston, Fred Thackston, Haskell Thackston, Madge Woods, Hazel Smith and Bertha Ferguson.
He is survived by: his wife Myra Loyie Tate Thackston; his daughter Lisa McDaniel (Joe); his sister Blanche Taylor (David); and his grandson Andy McDaniel.
