She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Dawson and Anne Tomlinson Caldwell, Jr.; her brother Stevens T. Caldwell; and her sister-in-law Gene McKinney Caldwell. She is survived by: her husband Baety Oneal Gross, Jr.; her sons, Neal Gross (Caroline) and Alan Gross (Catherine); her grandchildren, Will (Caroline), Lydia (Skylar), Capers, Sid and Annie; her siblings, Susan Papp (Carl) and Earl D. Caldwell III; and her sister-in-law Patsy Gross (Ted). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
