It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Birdie Britt Jenkins of Smoaks, South Carolina, born in Dorchester, South Carolina, who passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Raeford Britt and Hattie Hamp Britt; her husband Nathaniel Jenkins; and her siblings, East, James Britt, Ida Lee Britt Pringle and Geraldine Britt Sampson.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara Jenkins, Florence Jenkins of Smoaks, Fannie Stokes (Felder) of Branchville, Amanda Elmore (George) of St. George, Jenell Brabham of Savannah, Georgia, Lucious Jenkins of Smoaks and Samuel Jenkins (Kathy) of Orangeburg; and her sister Sinclair Brown of Charleston. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
