He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Claude Swanson Finney Sr. and Elizabeth Nolan Finney; and his daughter-in-law Christine Lawerence Finney. He is survived by: his wife Beth Greene Finney; his children, Claude S. Finney III (Anne Blair Brown) of Nashville, TN, Kathryn Finney White (David Grier White, Sr.) of Hillsborough, NC and Justin Talbert Finney (Bailey Finney) of Spartanburg; his grandchildren, Marjorie Coddington White, David Grier White Jr., John Edward Finney and Sarah Renee Finney; his brother Dr. Norman Reed Finney; his nephews, Thomas Reed Finney (Stephanie) and Watson Collins Finney (Kim); and his friends, Burnham Uhler and Dr. Julian Josey.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Episcopal Church (141 Advent St, Spartanburg, SC 29302).
