She was predeceased by : her parents, James Walter Shippy and Hattie Bell Littlejohn Shippy; her siblings, Annie Ruth Littlejohn, Henrietta Lipscomb and Howard Littlejohn; her daughter Aurelia Gist; and her granddaughter Ciera Nicole Gist.

She is survived by : her children, Tina Gist of Spartanburg, Ronald Gist, Marcellus Gist of Spartanburg and James Gist of Lake Norman; her grandchildren, Whitney Gist and Jeremy Gist of Simpsonville, SC; her great grandchild Jayden Gist; her grandsons, Terrence Gist, Terrell Gist and Tyler Gist; her siblings, Linda Shippy, Marvis Huntley, Betty Byrd of Pacolet and Walter Lee Shippy of Pacolet; her sister-in-law Mary Tracy of Pacolet; and her close friend Paulette Alexander. She is also survived by twenty four grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
