He was predeceased by: his parents, Flora Mae Mathis Simpson and Jesse Jacob Simpson; his son Gene Timothy Simpson, Jr.; his grandson Nathan; and his sister Gail Lynch.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Louise Skinner Simpson; his sons, Alan Dale Simpson (Patty) of Cowpens and Jeffery Todd Simpson (Tracy) of Fort Mill, SC; and his daughter-in-law Margaret Simpson of Spartanburg. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
