He was predeceased by : his parents, Emmanuel Wesley and Lucy Mahon King; his son Gary Douglas King (Marcia); and his siblings, Robert George King, Alvona King Combs and Ruby Louise King.

He is survived by : his wife Carrie Maxine King; his children, Steven Ray King (Reba Kay) and MeLinda King Osburn (John); and his grandchildren, Stephanie D. King MacLeod (Shawn), Morgan Amelia Osburn, John Sterling Osburn and Michael D. King.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bobo Funeral Chapel (1860 Cannons Campground Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
