He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sherry Hawkins Alverson; his parents, DJ Alverson and Mildred Hines Alverson; his son Jay Alverson (Brandi) of Charlotte; his brother David R. Alverson (Kitty); his granddaughters, Brianna Alverson and Natalie Alverson; his siblings-in-law, Jack Hawkins and Joy McGaha (Chuck); and his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Alverson, Morgan Hawkins, Jon Alverson and Ryan McGaha. He was also cherished by grand-nieces and nephews; and many generations of cousins.
